Fola Folayan is a dynamic media entrepreneur and communications strategist with extensive experience in journalism, public relations, brand communications, and digital media. She specializes in developing impactful campaigns, fostering strategic partnerships, and leading training programs that empower media professionals across Africa.

As the Marketing & Partnerships Manager at the Center for Collaborative Investigative Journalism (CCIJ), Fola plays a key role in promoting investigative journalism and driving fundraising initiatives. She develops and executes strategic marketing campaigns for CCIJ’s global investigative projects, manages partnerships with international media organizations, and oversees community engagement for a diverse network of investigative, data, and visual journalists. She is also instrumental in organizing high-impact training programs and workshops for media professionals worldwide.

With a strong foundation in broadcast journalism, Fola is the founder of The Radio Masterclass (BRMC), a training organization that provides virtual, self-directed courses for entry-level radio broadcasters, as well as customized training programs and consultancy services for African radio stations. Under BRMC, she also curates the Media Mentors Series, a networking platform that connects young media professionals with industry experts.

Fola was the pioneer General Manager of 101.7 YES FM Ibadan, a bilingual talk radio station in Nigeria, where she successfully established the station’s brand identity, developed a robust content strategy, and implemented key operational structures, including staff training and professional development programs.

​

​

Now based in Kigali, Rwanda, Fola is the founder of Polongo Africa, a boutique public relations and media consultancy specializing in brand communication strategy, media relations, content development, and reputation management. She has successfully worked with brands, organizations, and media entities to craft compelling narratives and amplify their impact across Africa.

​

​

Her expertise in public relations, crisis communication, content strategy, and corporate communications was honed during her tenure as Head of Media Relations at BukiHQ Media, one of Nigeria’s leading PR firms. In this role, she managed media relations for high-profile clients, led brand activations, and executed reputation management strategies for corporate and entertainment brands.

As a content creator and digital strategist, Fola has produced and managed content across multiple platforms for media outlets and non-profits, including West Africa Weekly and The International Organisation for Peace and Social Justice.

​

​

Fola’s career reflects a deep commitment to media innovation, journalism excellence, and professional development. Through her work, she continues to shape the future of African media by equipping journalists and media professionals with the skills, tools, and networks needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving industry.
